Day 3 - Betoota to Birdsville

It is just a short jump from Betoota to Birdsville, though we took off early as we wanted plenty of time to relax and finalise our trip preparation for our Simpson Desert crossing.

The road was rough and corrugated and the mounded gravel banks kept you focussed.  The graders were working on the road for the return trip but my tyres took a pounding along this stretch.  I had aired down to around 20 psi to smooth the ride out, but the sidewalls ended up with some good sized nicks that concerned us given we had around 7000kms still to go in some very remote country.

As it turned out, the nicks did not trouble us for the trip.
